IBM i Installation - Installation Procedures
Currently, Universal Agent 7.7.0 for IBM i does not include Universal Command (UCMD) or Universal Data Mover (UDM). Customers who require those components should use an older version of Workload Automation for IBM i. The latest version containing those components is 5.1.1. Older versions of Workload Automation for IBM i can be installed alongside version 7.7.0.
Installation Processes
There are six different processes for installing Universal Agent on an IBM i system:
- New Installation (Default)
- New Installation (Custom)
- Re-Installation of Same Release
- Upgrade Installation to New Release
- Propagating New Release to Additional Systems
- Upgrade Installation for Maintenance Release
The process to follow depends on the following factors:
- Your installation environment
- The currently installed Universal Agent for IBM i release (if any)
- The Universal Agent for IBM i release to be installed
There are two additional procedures related to installation:
- UCHGRLS (Change Release Tag) Program for changing Universal Agent for IBM i command names in the IBM i QSYS library.
- Product Removal procedures that are required or optional, depending on the installation process.
Note
If the QCCSID system value of IBM i is configured to a non-default CCSID, you may need to perform a customization step following the product install. For information on how to perform this step, including additional information to help you determine if and why you may need to perform the step, see National Language Customization.
Installs requiring the customization may see errors referring to UNVTMPL and/or UNVCONF files in the UBROKER job log.
