Tutorial - Download a file with UDMG Web Transfer Client

In this tutorial, you will:

  • Configure a directory to be accessible for upload by the UDMG Web Transfer Client user.

  • Login to the UDMG Web Transfer Client.

  • Browse to the virtual space that is allowed for the user.

  • Download a file.

  • Login to the UDMG Admin UI.

  • Monitor the file transfer.

Step 1

From the UDMG Admin UI navigation pane, click on Rules Service to create a send rule.

  • In the Rule Name field, enter WebUser_send.

  • In the Direction field, select Send.

  • In the Path Directory field, enter out, this is the virtual path shown on the UDMG Web Transfer Client.

  • In the Local Directory field, enter WebUser.

  • In the Remote Directory field, leave it empty.

  • In the Temp Directory field, enter WebUser.

  • Select a business service from the list: Generic.

Click the Save icon (

) to create the rule.

Due to a system limitation with the UDMG Web Transfer Client, setting the same path value for the Local and Temp directories is mandatory.

This constraint will be removed in future releases.

Step 2

Authorize the rule for the user. This enables the WebUser to access the out folder for uploading files.

More details on this step can be found in the Tutorial - Creating a Transfer Rule for an SFTP Server.

Step 3

  • Open the UDMG Web Transfer Client login page

  • Fill in the Username and Password

  • Select the LOGIN button

Step 4

The user home space is displayed, showing the out virtual folder:

Step 5

Double-click on the out folder to visit that location.

Step 6

The content of the folder is displayed with the current path on top:

Select a file and select the Download icon (

). The same can be done with the right-click context menu on the file item.

Note

The file name cannot contain special characters (e.g., &, +, %, #, ;).

Step 7

The file download is initiated and the progress panel is minimized at the window's bottom.

Step 8

Click on the panel to expand it.

The progress is displayed for each file:

Step 9

The file transfer is registered on UDMG and can be monitored during the download in the Transfer Activity dashboard from the UDMG Admin UI navigation pane.
