IBM i Installation - New Installation (Default)

Currently, Universal Agent 7.7.0 for IBM i does not include Universal Command (UCMD) or Universal Data Mover (UDM).   Customers who require those components should use an older version of Workload Automation for IBM i.  The latest version containing those components is 5.1.1.  Older versions of Workload Automation for IBM i can be installed alongside version 7.7.0.

New Installation (Default)

The default process for a new installation of Universal Agent for IBM i installs to the following libraries:

  • Product library (UNVPRD770)
  • Temporary library (UNVTMP770)
  • Spool file library (UNVSPL770)

Step 1

Execute the following command to install Universal Agent to the default libraries:

RSTLICPGM LICPGM(0UNV770) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/UNV770)

When installing Universal Agent on a version of IBM i that is newer than the version identified in the distribution file name (for example, installing the 7.3-targeted file on IBM i 7.4 or later), add the FRCOBJCVN parameter to force object conversion to the newer platform.

RSTLICPGM LICPGM(0UNV770) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/UNV770) FRCOBJCVN(*YES *ALL)

Step 2

Verify that the installation was correct by executing the following command:

CHKPRDOPT 0UNV770

The following message should display: No errors detected by CHKPRDOPT.

Step 3

Optionally, rename the UNVUBR770 subsystem to UBROKER for consistent operation across future installations.

Step 4

Optionally, use the UCHGRLS (Change Release Tag) Program to change the names of the Universal Agent for IBM i commands in the IBM i QSYS library.
