Universal Controller 6.5.0.0 Release Notes

Agent Cluster Distribution via Network Alias Resolution

This new feature allows the user to specify an "alias" (or VIP) as a task destination for Windows or Linux/Unix tasks in order to support workload execution on Windows or UNIX/Linux Universal Agents via external load balancing and clustering mechanisms such as Reverse Proxy Load balancers, Virtual IP Addresses, MS Clusters, IBM HACMP, etc.

Customers who want to leverage load balancing for Windows and Linux/Unix workloads (including Universal Tasks) via reverse proxy load balancers (such as F5 devices), or direct workloads to a VIP (virtual IP address), now can do so by configuring agent clusters with the new Network Alias distribution.

The Network Alias distribution type will specify the network alias or VIP and will initiate a UQuery, which will be directed to the target agent based on the load balancers criteria (or to the server assigned to the VIP). The server (if an active Universal Agent is available) will return the Universal Agent QName and associate that agent with the Agent Cluster.

Agent Cluster Notifications

Notifications now are available for agent clusters, supporting notification states "Agents Unavailable," "Agents Available," "Suspended," and "Resumed."

Output Processing Enhancements

  • A new "Wait for Output" option when retrieving output automatically is provided to prevent a task's completion until the task's output has been returned from its Universal Agent. This feature is intended to support a new function for making output available to successor tasks by ensuring that the Universal Controller has the output available when this new function is used in either a task action or successor task.
    • New function to retrieve predecessor output.
  • Task output can now be retrieved directly from the task instance Output tab.

Calendar Enhancements

  • Custom Days (Relative Repeating Date) added Nth and Nth Amount to When Clause.

LDAP Enhancements

  • Universal Controller has added support for LDAP user and group synchronization from Open LDAP.
  • LDAP group and user filter field size extended.

Web Service APIs

  • List Workflows a Task belongs to.
  • Enhanced information returned from the List Task Instances API.
  • Agent Cluster Resolve Command

Security Enhancements

OMS Client SSL Authentication. Connections between the OMS Server and the OMS Clients (Universal Agents and Universal Controller) now can be configured to require the OMS Clients to be validated via a Certificate (OMS Clients can already validate the OMS server via this method). This additional layer of security allows Universal Controller customers to ensure that no "rogue" Universal Agents can be configured to connect to a Universal Controller instance.
